Happy Lunar New Year! This is a very symbolic holiday and rhythmic observation for me, particularly in 2022, as it is so aligned with my word of the year, Season. The Lunar New Year is the beginning of a calendar year whose months align with phases of the Moon. Today, new year's day, is also a new moon. Historically observed in east Asian countries, the holiday is known for rich cultural traditions that center around rituals to manifest good fortune and prosperity.
2022 is the Year of the Water Tiger, the first in my lifetime. The Water Tiger represents courage and strength, and I plan to maximize its progress and action-oriented promise. Celebrants often incorporate specific foods and household cleansing activities to infuse meaning and intention into the day.
At Casa Kurt, we're planning a feast of Chinese food and will be including dumplings and long noodles which symbolize prosperity and longevity. I'm calling on my energies and making space for new beginnings, sipping green tea steeped with lion's mane to manifest good health, and feeling powerful inspiration from my Year of the Tiger playlist.
