Cranberry Bourbon Compote

Ever notice how the cranberry sauce always gets the least amount of love of the Thanksgiving side dishes? Maybe because it's not as creamy and comforting as mashed potatoes, or as fluffy and delicious as the stuffing. Or, maybe it's because (gasp!) some people actually serve it from a can. With just a little effort, this super simple recipe can transform the saddest of side dishes to the talk of the table!

Ingredients

12 ounces cranberries

3/4 cup sugar

1/2 cup sparkling cider

1/4 cup Bourbon

1/2 teaspoon Madagascar vanilla

Directions

Combine all ingredients in a medium-sized saucepan. Simmer over medium-low heat until the cranberries begin to burst, and the sauce thickens, approximately 20-25 minutes.

Serve warm. Take a bow. Be prepared to henceforth become the Cranberry Sauce provider for every holiday meal.
