This year's Friendsgiving celebration marked a long-awaited return to hosting holiday events Chez Kurt, and I couldn't pass up a chance to create a signature cocktail, as meaningful and symbolic as it is delicious. Eight years ago on Thanksgiving Day, we rescued our sweet and adorable Macy Boo (named for the annual parade), shivering and cold in a snowdrift in northwestern Pennsylvania. In honor of her eight year rescue-versary and happily ever after with our family and a generously gifted bottle of Baileys Apple Pie from friends and neighbors joining us around our holiday table, I whipped up the eight-ingredient Appley Ever After.
Ingredients (makes 6 cocktails)
8 ounces Baileys Apple Pie Irish Cream Liqueur
16 ounces Sparkling Apple Cider, chilled
1 Gala, Pink Lady, or Honeycrisp Apple, cut into wedge slices
Whipped Cream
Caramel Sauce
Cinnamon, grated
Nutmeg, grated
Edible Gold Flakes
Directions
Serve in martini glasses.
Whisk together Baileys and sparkling cider until well combined and frothy.
Pour 4 ounces of Baileys and cider mixture into each glass.
Top with desired amount of whipped cream.
Drizzle caramel sauce over whipped cream.
Garnish with an apple slice, light dusting of cinnamon and nutmeg, and pinch of gold flakes.
For a twist on my presentation:
Rim the glasses in cinnamon and nutmeg
Add a cinnamon stick for an additional garnish
